Responsible AI Policy
GradeLogic™ uses AI to assist grading — never to replace the instructor's judgement. This policy describes how we apply AI responsibly and what stays in your control.
Human in the loop
AI output is assistive and may contain errors. No grade is finalized or delivered without the instructor reviewing and accepting it. The instructor remains the decision-maker for every result.
Where AI is used
AI assists with the following steps; each remains reviewable and correctable:
- Zone detection (optional cloud path)
- LLM OCR of approved, redacted content
- Solution inference and answer parsing
- Autograding against your rubric
- Draft feedback and narratives
Splitting, PII review, and student matching run locally in your browser. The on-device chat assistant runs only via Chrome's built-in AI.
Transparency & confidence
Each AI operation returns a confidence signal. Auto-Pilot pauses at mandatory checkpoints and whenever confidence is low, so you review, correct, and accept results before anything is finalized. No step runs past you unseen.
Data minimization
Student identities are excluded from AI processing: PII is marked and redacted (or whole pages excluded) locally before any cloud operation, and you authorize the transfer first. We do not use assessment content for advertising or indefinite analytics. See the FERPA Support Overview and Privacy Policy for details.
Limitations & fairness
AI grading can misread handwriting, mathematics, code, or unusual answer formats, and language models can reflect bias. Treat AI output as a first pass, not a verdict. We design for review at every step precisely because automated judgement is fallible.
